Jordan And Canada Agree To Press Israel To Ceasefire In Gaza

JAKARTA - Jordanian King Abdullah II and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau agreed to exert international pressure on Israel. This is for Israel to implement a ceasefire in the trapped Gaza Strip.

According to Jordan Petra's news agency, King Abdullah II received a phone call from the Canadian PM, and they urged "international pressure to immediately carry out a ceasefire in Gaza," citing Antara.

The report said that King Abdullah II also stressed the need to protect civilians and increase humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

During the talks, the King reiterated Jordan's "complete rejection of efforts to eliminate Palestinian problems and forcibly displacing Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza."

He also opposed the violence of Jewish extremist settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank.

Since the cross-border Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, Israel has continued its relentless attack on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 21,507 Palestinians and injuring 55,915 people, according to local health authorities.

Authorities claim Hamas attacks in Israel have killed about 1,200 Israelis.

Israel's blind attacks also caused destruction in Gaza, with 60 percent of the enclave infrastructure damaged and destroyed, leaving nearly 2 million residents displaced amid the food, clean water and medicine crisis.
