Bali Transportation Agency Admits Being Late In Handling Potential Traffic Jams At I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Access

JAKARTA - Congestion occurred at the road access to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali on Friday, December 29. The reason is, the Bali Transportation Agency Team was late in handling the congestion.

"I've tried to calculate it, but I actually saw that on December 23, the conditions were relatively higher than yesterday and they weren't too congested, but last night apparently the movement inside Bali was quite congestion, so there was a traffic jam, this was earlier than we predicted," he said.

Despite being late in realizing the potential for congestion, this bureaucrat at the Bali Provincial Government has made efforts to quickly overcome the conditions last night in collaboration with the police, airport elements, and Badung Transportation Agency.

"Starting this morning, the Bali Transportation Agency began to carry out more intensive monitoring and seek traffic control schemes as a short-term option," he said.

In addition, the public and tourists are advised to help reduce road density by reducing activities far from the hotel area, also if the distance is long expected to return or depart early, including to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

On the other hand, the Bali Transportation Agency will carry out traffic control to reduce travel time in the direction of the airport, this arrangement is planned to be carried out until the backflow on January 3, 2024 because it is predicted that many people will use flight facilities to come from various regions in Bali.

"We predict that usually the new year will indeed experience congestion at the points of destination areas. This airport is as usual crowded when moving in and out but last night was a bit extraordinary," he said.

Meanwhile, for the long-term option, the Head of the Bali Transportation Agency agreed that there was no choice but to develop public transportation with flyover or underground access.
