MAKI Plans To Sue Presidential Decree For Dismissal Of Firli Bahuri, Here's The Reason

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) plans to file a lawsuit to the State Administrative Court (PTUN) if President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) does not dishonorably dismiss Firli Bahuri as Chairman of the KPK.

Various violations committed should be the reason Firli could not enjoy his rights.

Firli should have been dishonorably dismissed or PTDH. PTDH made Firli potentially omitted his pension rights," MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman told reporters quoted on Saturday, December 30.

In addition, by being dishonorably dismissed, Firli could no longer hold public positions and provide a deterrent effect for others. "So that other KPK leaders with futures do not dare to play games anymore," said Boyamin.

"Because if you don't maintain the trust or even betray in quotes against your own oath to eradicate corruption but are suspected of committing corruption, the punishment will also be severe. Apart from ethics, it will also be criminalized," he continued.

Boyamin hopes that President Jokowi will explain the sound of Presidential Decree Firli Bahuri's dismissal. "If it has been dismissed with disrespect, yes, that's it. I'm enough but if it's not just preparation to file a PTUN lawsuit," he said.

As previously reported, President Jokowi officially dismissed Firli Bahuri as Chairman of the KPK through Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 129/P of 2023.

The signing was carried out on Thursday night, December 28. This process took place in the middle of investigating allegations of extortion or receiving gratuities handled by the Polda Metro Jaya.

There are three things that underlie the issuance of the Presidential Decree. First, Firli has written to resign from his position.

Then, President Jokowi also paid attention to the decision of the KPK Supervisory Board Number 03 / SUPERVISORY BOARD / ETIK / 12/2023 which was read out on Wednesday, December 27. In it, it is stated that Firli committed three ethical violations, one of which was meeting with the former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

The Supervisory Board decided the meeting as a serious violation so that President Jokowi was recommended to dismiss Firli.

Finally, President Jokowi signed the Presidential Decree for referring to Article 32 of the KPK Law Number 19 of 2019.
