2 Days Have Not Been Found, BPBD Deploys 60 Joint Personnel To Search For Victims Of Drowning In The Ogan River

SOUTH SUMATRA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) deployed 60 personnel to search for a resident who was reported to have drowned in the Ogan River in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra Province, since Friday night, December 22.

Efforts to find Darwis (40) resumed today, after the officers' efforts to find him by walking along the section of the Ogan River in the Seleman Village area, Semidang Aji District, were fruitless on Saturday, December 23.

"According to the SOP, the search was carried out until 18.00 WIB, but the victim had not been found, so it was continued today," said Ogan Komering Ulu Gunalfi Regency BPBD Operations Control Center Manager, Antara, Sunday, December 24.

"The second day of the search for victims was carried out by deploying 60 joint personnel," he said.

In the search for Sunday, BPBD officers, the Search and Rescue Office, TNI, and Polri as well as the families of the victims and residents searched for victims by walking along the river.

Using a rubber boat, two search teams followed the Ogan River starting from the location where the victim was reported to have washed away for several kilometers to the upstream of the river.

"Hopefully today's search will produce the results we hope for together," said Gunalfi.

Victim Darwis was reported to have been swept away by the current and drowned while defecating in the Ogan River section in the Keban Agung Village area, Semidang Aji District, on Friday, December 22 at around 20.30 WIB.

A resident who was fishing in the river then reported the unfortunate incident to the nearest police station.
