COVID-19 Cases Rise, KAI Has Not Implemented Special Ticket Purchase Requirements

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has not imposed special requirements for ticket purchases in connection with the soaring number of COVID-19 cases in several Indonesian cities.

"No, we have not imposed special conditions. There are no restrictions yet, ticket bookings are still normal," said Director of Strategic Planning and Facilities Management of PT KAI John Robertho in Bandung as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 21.

Currently, said John, his party is carrying out the direction of the Ministry of Transportation regarding the appeal to wear masks for public transportation users, including KAI officers.

"Yesterday, the directions from the Ministry of Transportation were still normal, we just appealed to wear masks if those who were not healthy," he said.

In addition to guarding from COVID-19, KAI Daop 2 Bandung Public Relations Manager Ayep Hanapi said that his party collaborated with the Bandung City National Narcotics Agency to conduct health and drug tests which were attended by all Railway Facilities Crew (ASP) workers who would carry out train trips during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year Transportation Period.

The health checks and drug tests are hundreds of ASPs consisting of drivers, assistant drivers, train service officers, train technicians, and Railway Travel Regulators (PPKA).

Health checks and drug tests carried out outside routine checks on ASP when carrying out the service were carried out to provide security and safety guarantees for Railway Travel (Perka) to train customers during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year Transport periods.

"This is to ensure that the Crew KA who is currently serving is truly in good health and at its best as the front line of the company that serves passengers directly. Also in the context of dealing with the use of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and illegal drugs in the Daop 2 Bandung environment," said Ayep.
