Anies Will Increase KIP Plus To Reduce School Dropouts

TANGERANG - Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan said that his party would increase the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) program to plus to reduce children dropping out of school, especially during the change of level, if elected as president.

"Many of our findings that many of us dropped out of school were not when they were at their level of education, but when they finished elementary school, they wanted to go to junior high and junior high school," said Anies in Tangerang, Banten, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 21.

Anies said this KIP plus will be given to poor people, especially children who will continue their education.

According to him, most children drop out of school not when they are at the level of education, but when they are about to move because it costs quite a lot so they prefer not to continue.

"At the time of the change of level, extra costs emerged, therefore we plan to provide financial support," he said.

When changing levels of education, it costs at least Rp. 1 million for elementary school, Rp. 1.5 million for junior high school, and Rp. 2.5 million for high school. With these funds, he hopes that the potential for dropping out of school will decrease.

In addition, said Anies, the number of seats must also be increased, both for junior high and high school, because when the seats are still small, they will not be accommodated.

"If the bench makes it less, even though the child has additional costs, if the bench is not there, it is not enough to expand the bench," he said.
