Makassar Polrestabes Deploy Security Personnel In 158 Churches At Christmas

Makassar City Police (Polrestabes) deployed security personnel in 158 churches in Makassar City, South Sulawesi during Christmas.

"For the security of the church, we have secured 158 churches, and there are 20 priority churches. The security of each of the 12 joint personnel of the Indonesian National Police and there are also two units of sterilization for the number of posts," said Makassar Police Chief Kombes Mokhamad Ngajib as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 19.

Before the security is carried out, said Ngajib, it is planned that the troop deployment will be held at the South Sulawesi Police Headquarters on December 22, 2023. For the multiple special personnel of the Makassar Polrestabes, 126 personnel will be involved in the 2023 Candle Operation.

As for the 2023 Candle Operation in the Makassar Polrestabes area, there are 11 security posts, one service post and one integrated post.

Regarding the security of New Year's Eve 2024, the plan is that the Polrestabes will involve as many as 1,500 TNI Polri personnel and related agencies from the Makassar City Government.

Regarding the placement of security posts on the border-border areas of Makassar City, he said, an approach system was carried out, such as at the Makassar-Gowa border Jalan Sultan Alauddin and at the Makassar-Gowa border Badik Statue, the Tunggu Pampang Reservoir T-tigation and the BTP-Moncongloe Complex, Makassar-Maros.

Furthermore, on New Year's Eve security, the Polrestabes carried out a traffic control system by seeing the potential for crowds of people who came with focus on areas along Losari Beach to the Poin of Indonesia (CPI) Center reclamation area through the open and close system.

"Of course we will see the situation and conditions on the ground later. But specifically for along Losari and CPI we will close as a place for the New Year's Eve implementation," he explained.

The plan is for the access route for vehicles that will enter Losari, such as Jalan Jenderal Sudirman from the western intersection to Jalan Haji Bau, Jalan Dr Ratulangi to the west, Jalan Botolempangan to the west, Jalan Sultan Hasanuddin, to the west to the intersection of Jalan Pattimura, Jalan Datumuseng and roads leading to Losari to CPI to be temporarily closed.

"Preparing for New Year's Eve and Christmas there are several appeals that we convey to people who will visit the Losari Beach bridge area and its surroundings, it is recommended to use public transportation and be delivered by family or on foot," he said.

Furthermore, for visitors and hotel guests who have an impact on road closures, they are allowed to take care of or use private cards from the hotel by adjusting their respective vehicle numbers according to the hotel. And for residents who live in the closing area, they can show their identity so that they are given access by officers.
