The Padang District Attorney (Kejari) is investigating allegations of misappropriation of social assistance funds (bansos) from the government to residents in Batang Arau Village, South Padang District, Padang City.

"It is true that we processed the problem after receiving information and reports from the public," said Head of the Intelligence Section of the Padang Kejari Afliandi in Padang, Monday, December 19, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the alleged misappropriation of social assistance funds was allegedly carried out by unscrupulous community social workers (PSM).

PSM is a social volunteer who is given the opportunity to play a role in organizing social welfare, the appointment is carried out by the local village but not an employee of the village office.

"From the information we got, this PSM person is suspected of misappropriating social assistance funds whose system was delivered directly to the community," he said.

In distributing social assistance to the poor, there are two mechanisms, namely the recipients pick them up directly to the Post Office or delivered to the homes of special recipients who are elderly, disabled, and sick.

The modus operandi of the PSM person is not to channel funds to the original recipient, but to make a report as if the money has been received by the rightful person.

"Based on the reports we received, twenty residents who received social assistance protested because the funds did not reach their hands," said Afliandi, who is familiarly called Andi.

In the ongoing processing, he continued, the Padang Kejari had examined a number of parties for questioning. In addition, the PSM person concerned has also returned the money to be handed over to the rightful recipient.

Andi also gave a strong warning to those who have the authority to manage and distribute social assistance to the public so as not to abuse them.

"No one should play with this social assistance money, if there is, we will process the law without exception, with the Corruption Crime Act," he concluded.
