YOGYAKARTA Profile of the Governor of North Maluku Abdul Gani was highlighted because he was caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Abdul Gani Kasuba is currently known as the Governor of North Maluku (Malut) with two terms of office, namely the 2014-2019 and 2019-2024 periods. He himself was born on December 21, 1951 in Bibinoi, now known as South Halmahera, North Maluku, Maluku.

Abdul Gani Kasuba decided to enter politics in 2004. At that time he joined PKS to run for legislative member. The results were quite satisfactory because he was successfully elected as a member of the DPR RI (2004-2007).

Not only that, he also briefly became Deputy Governor of North Maluku accompanying Thaib Armaiyn. Abdul Gani's position as Deputy Governor started from 2008 to 2012. Then in the following year, namely 2013, Abdul Gani again ran for office. With the same party, he ran for Governor of North Maluku.

The nomination was smooth again. His candidacy as Governor of North Maluku managed to deliver him as the number 1 person in the province. He and his deputy, Natsir Thaib were finally sworn in on May 2, 2014. The position was held by Abdul Gani and Natsir Thaib for the 2014-2019 period.

After the governor's position ended, Abdul Gani again ran for the 2019 Pilkada. At that time he was paired with former Central Halmahera Regent Al Yasin Ali with the party carrying the PDI-P and PKPI coalitions.

The result came back smoothly. The pair Abdul Gani- Al Yasin Ali won the 2019-2024 North Maluku Governor contest again. At that time the pair managed to get a vote of 176,669 votes or 31.79 percent.
