Keep Christmas 2023, Manokwari SAR Distributes 50 Personnel At A Number Of Transportation Points

JAKARTA - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Manokwari, West Papua, has alerted 50 special SAR personnel during Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024.

"The special Christmas and New Year's SAR will start from 18 December 2023 to 7 January 2024," said Head of the Manokwari Basarnas Office I Wayan Suyatna at the opening ceremony for the Special SAR Alert for Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024, in Manokwari, Monday, December 18, which was confiscated by Antara.

Basarnas, he said, is committed to anticipating all the possibilities that will occur through the preparedness of personnel and all SAR operating equipment.

Dozens of these personnel will later be deployed to a number of locations that become centers of crowds such as airports, ports, and tourist attractions.

"We have prepared 24 hours of land, water, communication equipment, and all personnel," said Wayan.

He said the special Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 alerts were also carried out at the Teluk Bintuni SAR Post and the Wondama Bay SAR Alert Unit, which is the working area of Basarnas Manokwari.

Basarnas also needs an active role from all components of society to provide information if they know of an accident in land or sea.

"The main post is at the Manokwari SAR Office. Special SAR Alert for Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 simultaneously throughout Indonesia," said Wayan.

He appealed to the entire community, especially fishermen, to remain aware of the weather changes that occur when carrying out fishing activities.

Extreme weather is the main factor in many sea accidents due to strong winds and high waves.

"SAR personnel must always be ready in the event of an accident or condition that endangers humans," he said.
