YOGYAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta plans to move two polling stations for the 2024 General Election in Sleman Regency because they are in a blank spot area or are not covered by the internet network.
"Those who plan to move are in Sleman, only two polling stations have blank spots," said Head of the DIY KPU Planning, data and information Division Zaenuri Ikhsan in Yogyakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, December 18.
Zaenuri said that based on the report received by the KPU DIY, the two polling stations were in Cangkringan District, Sleman.
Regarding the planned transfer, the DIY KPU will still check the location in coordination with the Sleman Regency KPU because it relates to the permanent voter list (DPT) at the two polling stations.
"We haven't checked the location yet, so it's a bit difficult to provide notes. If there are cases like this, we have to check the field to decide," he said.
Zaenuri admits that internet connection is one of the crucial aspects that must be met in the process of collecting and counting votes for the 2024 General Election, one of which is for sending voice recapitulation data through the online Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap).
Although Sirekap can also be operated "offline" or offline modes, he said, there are still two other jobs that require internet connectivity, namely fixed voter data entry (DPT) and online polling service checking.
"We have to check. If you have a DPT risk, the treatment is different because it has been listed. This must be 'online'," he said.
In addition to the two "black spots" polling stations in Sleman, continued Zaenuri, the DIY KPU also received reports of a number of polling stations located in areas categorized as weak internat connections, namely 177 in Gunungkidul Regency, 17 polling stations in Kulon Progo, and three polling stations in Bantul.
Meanwhile, in the city of Yogyakarta, no polling stations were found with internet connection problems.
"This has just been mapped again, later when it is certain that the position and status will be coordinated with the DIY Communications and Information Office," he said.
The DIY KPU has determined as many as 11,932 polling stations spread across five regencies/cities with 85 of them special TPS. "There are no additional special TPS, we have locked it at 85 polling stations," he said.
