Gerindra Party Calls Prabowo's Statement 'Ndasmu Ethics' In Family Nuance

JAKARTA - The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, responded to the phrase 'criticism and ethics' conveyed by Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto during the Gerindra Party National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) in Jakarta. Dasco explained that the ethical expression recorded on the video was conveyed in a family feel because Prabowo said in an internal event of the Gerindra Party which took place behind closed doors. "In a closed party internal event and Pak Prabowo usually makes it like a family event, so the atmosphere is very fluid and family," said Dasco in an official statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, December 15. In addition, he said that the Indonesian people were already smart so they were not influenced by the snippets of the video. "I think our society is smart, yes, not to be influenced by what Pak Prabowo said in the cut-off video, which is certainly a multi-interpretation," he said. Therefore, Sufmi Dasco invites the public to carry out and interpret democratic parties peacefully and coolly and uphold the unity and integrity of the Indonesian nation. "We all certainly hope that this democratic party will run well, peacefully, and coolly. The unity of the nation is the main thing," he said. Previously, Prabowo also explained that the expression was only a joke, among the Gerindra Party families, considering that the meeting was a closed and limited meeting for party cadres. "That's inside the family, right, but Indonesians usually look for it, want to exaggerate. That's among our families we talk about, and that's what the Banyumas people usually talk like that,” Prabowo said answering reporters' questions on the sidelines of his campaign activities in Blitar, East Java, Sunday. He asked that the matter should not be exaggerated because it was just an ordinary joke. Video footage showing Prabowo alluding to the contents of the presidential candidate (candidate) debate at the Indonesian KPU, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/12), has gone viral on social media and is in the spotlight because he mentions the word in Javanese that is ethical. Regarding ethics, Anies during the presidential candidate debate session asked Prabowo how he felt about the decision of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) which determined that several judges violated ethical rules when deciding on a request for a judicial review regarding the age of the presidential/cawapres candidate. Prabowo during the debate session also answered legally that the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the minimum age limit for presidential/vice presidential candidates was final and binding. Therefore, his decision to cooperate with the eldest son of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as a vice presidential candidate did not violate the law.

"So, my team, the legal experts who accompanied me said that from a legal point of view there was no problem. A problem that was considered a violation of ethics, action and decision had been taken at that time by the authorities, then there had been action," Prabowo said in response to Anies' question.
