Denying Firli Bahuri Regarding Threats, Alex Marwata Even Calls Not Saving Cellphone Number Inspector General Karyoto

Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata denied the contents of Firli Bahuri's replica which said that the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto had threatened him. According to him, there has never been any threats related to the handling of the alleged corruption case of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) involving Muhammad Suryo. "I was never contacted, called, threatened, asked Firli's lawyer himself (about the replica)," Alex told reporters, Thursday, December 14. In fact, Alex emphasized that he did not have and did not know Karyoto's phone number. So, it is impossible for a conversation between them by telephone. "I've never been called, I happen to have no cellphone number in question," said Alex. Meanwhile, Firli Bahuri said that Karyoto, who has served as the Metro Jaya Police Chief, had threatened investigators to the KPK leadership. In fact, the two-star general is said to have visited Nawawi Pomolango and asked not to name Suryo as a suspect in the bribery case. In addition to threatening Nawawi, Karyoto is also said to have threatened the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, and Johanis Tanak.

"The threat was also conveyed to Johanis Tanak by telephone by Johanis Tanak and heard by Johanis Tanak's aide and driver Johanis Tanak. Johanis Tanak conveyed it to Alex Marwata," said Firli Bahuri's lawyer, Ian Iskandar.
