TKN: Prabowo Will Give Amnesty To End Conflict In Papua

Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto promised to grant amnesty to armed groups to end the conflict in Papua.

"The granting of amnesty for groups that have taken up arms against the government is the one who wants to be independent from the Republic of Indonesia," said Spokesperson for Human Rights and Constitution of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN), Munafrizal Manan, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 13.

In granting the amnesty, he said, Prabowo would carry out a process of dialogue and a gentle approach or soft approach to parties in Papua.

After the communication process runs, Prabowo will grant amnesty to armed groups in Papua.

According to Munafrizal, the solution is to achieve peace without bloodshed.

"We want Papua to be able to reach the final settlement, such as Aceh. Aceh has been completed, so there really needs to be a breakthrough. Therefore, Pak Prabowo has stated that he is willing to grant amnesty as a settlement for Papua," he said.

The General Election Commission (KPU) has determined the pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD number 3 in the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections (Pilpres).
