JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that too many officials in Indonesia have been arrested and imprisoned. For him this is not an achievement and it is a sign that evaluation must be carried out. This was conveyed by President Jokowi while attending the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2023 today, Tuesday, December 12. The activity was carried out at Istora Senayan, Jakarta. "Our country for the 2004-2022 period has many of our officials who have been arrested and imprisoned," said Jokowi in the activity. "There are no other countries that have arrested and imprisoned as many as our countries, Indonesia. This should not be handled," he continued. Jokowi then detailed many officials who were imprisoned in the 2004-2022 period for criminal acts of corruption. There are 344 leaders and members of the DPR and DPRD. 344 including the Chairman of the DPRD and DPRD," said the former Governor of DKI Jakarta. "Next, Jokowi revealed that 38 ministers and heads of institutions have been imprisoned for being entangled in corruption cases. Then, 31 judges including constitutional judges; 8 commissioners including KPU, KPPU, and the Judicial Commission (KY).. Then there are 415 private sectors and 363 bureaucrats, "he said. Even though there have been many imprisoned but evidence of corruption in the country is still happening. Thus, Jokowi assessed that the prosecution of corruption in the country had no impact so it had to be evaluated.

"Too many. There are so many, looking for other countries that imprison as many officials as in Indonesia," said Jokowi. "With so many officials who have been imprisoned, has corruption stopped? Stop? It turns out that until now we still find many corruption cases. This means that we need to evaluate the total," he continued. In the 2023 Hakordia commemoration with the theme Synergy Eradicating Corruption for Advanced Indonesia, a number of invited guests were present. Among them are Ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.
