Police Shoot Bank Customer Robbers In Lampung, Losses Of IDR 720 Million

Lampung Metro Police arrested one of the three perpetrators of the robbery of Rp 720 million in cash belonging to a bank customer. The perpetrator, who had been on the run for two years, had to be shot in the leg for trying to escape. The perpetrator is a theft recidivist with the mode of breaking cross-provincial car windows.

The robber of Rp 720 million belonging to a bank customer in Metro City, Lampung, is named Dedi Kurniadi (41).

Personnel from the Anti-Bandit Team (Tekab) 308 Polres Metro arrested the perpetrator at his home in Sukadana Village, Kayu Agung District, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency, South Sumatra in the early hours of Friday at around 00.10 WIB.

According to police records, the perpetrator Dedi Kurniadi and two of his colleagues who are still at large have robbed two bank customers of money in Metro City at the end of December 2021 and October 2023.

The first robbery carried out by the perpetrators occurred on Monday last week. The perpetrators managed to get away with Rp 120 million in cash belonging to a bank customer.

Then the perpetrators took action again on Monday, October 9 at around 10.30 WIB. The perpetrators stole Rp 600 million in cash belonging to a customer who made withdrawals at a bank in Metro City.

The money was kept by the victim in a black plastic bag which was placed in the front left front car seat. After that the victim returned home by driving a car.

Arriving in front of the house, the victim got out of the car to open the gate, but suddenly two perpetrators on a motorbike stopped and one of the perpetrators got off to open the left front door and took the victim's money.

The perpetrators who were outside and inside the bank communicated with each other, after receiving the target target, two perpetrators who were outside followed the victim to further steal the victim's money.

From the arrest of the perpetrator Dedi Kurniadi, the police confiscated the items of a motorcycle and evidence of the clothes worn during the action.

Metro Police Chief AKBP Heri Sulistyo Nugroho said, since the theft of money belonging to the two customers, his party has pocketed the identities of the perpetrators based on CCTV footage.

"These perpetrators act by wearing masks. When carrying out the action, these perpetrators have their respective roles," said AKBP Heri Sulistyo Monday, December 11.

Heri Sulistyo Nugroho explained that currently his party is still investigating the alleged involvement of other people who help the perpetrators carry out their actions in the Metro City area.

"In this regard, until now we are still investigating and we cannot conclude. From the results of our investigation, indeed this group is a theft group with a broken glass mode," explained Heri Sulistyo Nugroho.

The police chief appealed to people who took large amounts of money at the bank to ask for escort and security from the police. The security services are provided free of charge.

Currently, Tekab 308 personnel from the Metro Police, Lampung are still pursuing two other perpetrators who are still at large.

For further legal proceedings, the perpetrator Dedi Kurniadi is now being held at the Metro Police. The perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a weight (curat) with a threat of 7 years in prison.

From the results of the police investigation, the actions of the perpetrators began with the bank where the victim made the withdrawal of money. Two perpetrators were caught on CCTV conducting surveillance of potential victims.
