Police Investigate Burning Case Of Banyuputih Batang Sub-District Office

The Batang Resort Police, Central Java, is still investigating the case of burning the Banyuputih sub-district head office by an unknown person.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Batang Police, AKP Imam Muhtadi, said that his party was still investigating the crime scene (TKP) and asked for witness statements.

"Currently, we are still in the investigation stage related to the fire case, including checking and checking the closed camera circuit television at the scene," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 11.

The police have not been able to conclude the fire case at the Banyuputih Sub-District Office, including not knowing the motive because the case is still under investigation.

"Be patient, the case is still under investigation and waiting for a forensic laboratory test. Just wait for the results, tomorrow," he said.

Secretary of the Banyuputih Sub-district, Lukmawan Setiaji, said that around 11 rooms were damaged and their contents were scattered and the sub-district room was burned to the point of burning all the items in the room, including important documents.

The incident was first noticed by angkringan traders who were selling in front of the Subah District Office who saw the flames rising high from the top of the sub-district office building.

Angkringan traders who saw the fire then contacted the Head of Sembung Village who soon came to the sub-district office with a number of devices, and made efforts to extinguish it using makeshift equipment.

Not long after, 1 fire engine arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze. The fire was extinguished by firefighters, 1 hour later.

All items along with 1 laptop and documents in the sub-district room were burned down, including the broken windows.

"The room that caught fire was only the sub-district room. However, there were several other rooms that were damaged and their contents were also messy, including each room being opened, but no items were taken," he said.
