Turkish Military Unmanned Land Vehicle Successfully Launches Loitering Ammunition

JAKARTA - The Turkish defense industry has again announced the achievement of its technology, following the successful test of firing the firing of the loading ammunition from unmanned ground vehicles.

Havelsan, Turkey's domestic defense industry company announced that the Barkan unmanned autonomous land vehicle was successful in carrying out the shooting.

This success made Barkan a unmanned ground vehicle in its class capable of firing loading ammunition, reported by the Daily Sabah on December 5.

With an electric propulsion system, Barkan's ammunition has a range of 15 kilometers (9.3 miles), a flight altitude of 3,000 meters (1.8 miles) and a time of 40 minutes.

Thanks to its modular structure, different types of weaponry can be quickly integrated into the Barkan, which has entered the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces in recent months.

Havelsan Veysel's Director of Product and Production Development Atao totaled that loading ammunition can also be equipped with group capabilities, while the company aims to increase prevention by including this capability into the concept of mixed gangs.

"We have reflected the concept of using the entire system in a group both on land, in the air, and at sea," he explained.

"The second goal here is to ensure that the 8-10 ammunition that roams around can be fired at the same time, become a gang in the air, and perform tasks at the same time as our other unmanned vehicles," he said.
