Ship Accident In Bengkalis Riau, 1 Elderly Fisherman Lost

RIAU - Pekanbaru Basarnas continues to search for an elderly fisherman named Vena (60), allegedly falling into the sea of the waters of Kuala Selat Baru, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province.

The search was carried out after the victim allegedly fell following the ship he was traveling in had an accident.

"The search was carried out based on a report received on Friday (December 8) at 16.00 WIB where a ship accident occurred in the form of one person falling into the sea while looking for fish in the waters of Kuala Selat Baru, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency," Head of Pekanbaru Basarnas Budi Cahyadi in his statement, Friday, December 8, was confiscated by Antara.

Budi explained that the missing victim initially went to sea looking for fish on Tuesday, December 5 at 16.00 WIB.

Usually, he continued, the victim had returned home the next day. However, until now the victim has not returned home.

"We have dispatched a SAR team to the scene to search for victims, a team that has gone down to search for five people," he said.

He explained that during the search, the victim's family found the ship carrying Vena but the victim was not on the ship, allegedly the victim fell into the sea.

In an effort to search for victims, his party also received assistance from other related elements, namely the Riau Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the police and also the local community.

"The team also brought equipment in the form of rescue carriers, rubber boats, diving equipment and navigation tools and others," said Budi.

Meanwhile Forecaster On Duty of the Pekanbaru Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Bibin S said the air temperature in the Riau region is estimated to range from 22.0 33.0 C with 60'99 percent humidity.

Winds blowing from Southwest to Northwest at a speed of 10 - 30 km/hour are also a factor that needs to be considered, especially for outdoor and shipping activities.

"The forecast for sea waves in the waters of Riau Province is relatively calm with a wave height ranging from 0.01 0.50 meters," said Bibin.
