JAKARTA - Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya Bakar emphasized Indonesia's commitment to leading a real contribution in overcoming climate change.

"We are determined that Indonesia will continue to prioritize leadership by giving examples and concrete actions to contribute to world climate change," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 8.

The Conference of Parties 28 (COP28) is considered the right moment to discuss the world's strategic steps to deal with climate change and environmental sustainability issues.

COP28 also marked the latest participation of President Jokowi and Minister Siti as Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia for nearly a decade.

"President Jokowi has made a broad climate achievement, a legacy for Indonesia, which collaboratively contributes to global efforts to overcome the climate crisis, through efforts as inclusive and collaboratively as possible," continued Siti Nurbaya.

Along with this commitment, one of Indonesia's industrial processing companies, PT Prasadha Pamunah Waste Industri (PPLI), also conveyed its ideas and support for the action to fight the climate crisis.

PPLI invites all relevant parties to be able to collaborate more actively in increasing compliance with waste management.

"Limbah must be managed according to global standards with a high commitment to measure carbon footprint in the management of each waste carried out," said PPLI Research and Development Manager Lely Fitriyani at one of the COP28 forums.

The company has so far realized an economic circular in industrial waste processing in order to preserve the earth.

The COP 28 forum is an opportunity for companies to show their commitment in carrying out environmental management in the waste sector in a sustainable manner.

The company, which is mostly controlled by the Japanese state industrial waste processing company, DOWA Ecosystem Com Ltd, is very optimistic that public awareness of the environment will continue to increase.

"We believe that next year will be a year when there will be a significant jump in waste management in Indonesia, and PPLI is confident that it will lead the change," said Lely.
