Bali Health Office Anticipates Pneumonia's Entry Through Ngurah Rai Airport Gate

DENPASAR - Head of the Bali Health Service (Dinkes) I Nyoman Gede Anom anticipates the entry of cases of mycoplasma pneumoniae or pneumonia respiratory infections found in China through the doors of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

"For airports, we prioritized pneumonia (anticipation), then monkeypox, and COVID-19 yesterday, we coordinated with the Port Health Office (KKP), we also asked for their report if there were cases suspected of immediately providing information to be referred to the hospital," he said in Denpasar as reported by ANTARA, Friday, December 8.

Until now, the case that has been detected in Jakarta is not yet available in Bali, but seeing that high tourist visits from the Bali Health Office are still vigilant, and have even prepared health facilities such as health centers and hospitals if similar symptoms are found.

So far they have only handled pneumonia which is common in Indonesia, in contrast to what is currently rife in China, for cases of respiratory infection in 2022 as many as 5,269 cases were handled and 2023 to date 4,977 cases.

Anticipate the entry ofmycoplasma pneumoniaedi at the end of this year's holiday period is also supported by I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport through the installation of five temperature scanner posts and the placement of KKP officers.

As an initial mitigation measure, as many as five units of thermoscanners that function to scan the passenger's body temperature have been placed in the arrival area and international departure.

"Furthermore, the placement of officers by the Denpasar Class I KKP at the airport in charge of supervising body temperature checks and observing symptoms for travelers visually," said Acting General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Iwan Novi Hantoro when confirmed separately.

Iwan said that if there are passengers who show symptoms, the traveler will be separated from other passengers and will be handled by the KKP.

The mitigation at this airport was carried out thoroughly and with the same treatment for all foreign nationals who had just arrived after the air route.

"Until now, no positive people have been found to have contracted mycloplasma pneumoniae which passes at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport," said Iwan.
