Map Areas Prone To Riots In The 2024 Election, East Java Police Focus On Horse And Madurahoe Areas

SURABAYA - The East Java Regional Police (Polda) have mapped out chaotic areas in the Madura and Tapal Kuda areas in the upcoming 2024 General Election. This reflects on every previous election.

"In terms of the new dimension index, which we are currently wary of is the Madura region in Sampang ( once) there were riots, including the horseshoe area, which is prone," said East Java Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto, Friday, December 8.

Imam said the Horseshoe areas include Lumajang, Sitobondo, Pasuruan, Bondowoso, Banyuwangi and Probolinggo regencies. Meanwhile, the areas in Madura, namely Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan, and Sumenep Regencies. "But in particular, all areas of Madura have the highest level of vulnerability in East Java," he said.

As an anticipatory measure, continued Imam, his party through various units and Polres ranks more often went down to meet community leaders. The goal is to discuss and campaign in order to create a peaceful 2024 election.

"Activities directly touch the community with the concept of cooling vulnerable pockets, we usually hold social service activities, health services are our way of neutralizing," he said.

Meanwhile, Karo Ops Polda Jatim Kombes Puji Santosa, said that his party would also carry out cyber patrols to prevent hoax news from appearing on social media. This hoax news is the problem of rioting during the election.

"For example, in the Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in 2019, there were attacks, burning police caused by hoax news, and the geography of the area (Madura) is far away and there are hills," he said.

Therefore, said Puji, his party will carry out extra security by prioritizing a persuasive approach. Given, East Java is always known as a winning area that is contested by many parties.

"East Java is a province whose voices are always contested in every election, of course there are vulnerabilities like the previous elections," he said.
