Basarnas-Polairud Divers Deployed To Search For 12 Victims Of The North Sumatra Humbahas Flash Flood Lost

Several divers from Basarnas Special Group (BSG) and Polairud were deployed in an operation to search for victims of flash floods and landslides in Silmagulampe Village, Humbang Hasundutan Regency (Humbahas), North Sumatra (North Sumatra). "Today the search is focused on water areas by sweeping using two units of RIB, two units of LCR, and equipped with aqua eye, then also diving from BSG and Polairud," said Head of the Medan Basarnas Office Budiono when contacted, Thursday 7 December, confiscated by Antara. "Today's search involves at least 538 people from various agencies and organizations involved, which will later be divided into three sectors with a focus of six points," said Budiono. He explained that a team of divers was dispatched to strengthen the joint SAR team that carried out the expansion of search area operations in Lake Toba waters to find 10 victims who were still declared missing in the disaster in Humbahas.

Previously, the North Sumatra Police dispatched a team of divers to look for victims in Lake Toba after the disaster in Humbahas. "There are five personnel from the North Sumatra Regional Police's Dit Polairud and one unit of the ship that was dispatched," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Pol Hadi Wahyudi. In addition, the North Sumatra Police deployed a K9 unit or sniffer dog to help personnel search for the missing victims. "The existence of the sniffer dog is expected to help personnel work more optimally in the search for the disaster area," said Hadi. It was informed that 12 people were reported missing due to the flash flood incident in Simangulempe Village, Baktiraja District, Humbahas Regency, and the joint team had found two victims dead.
