Attended By Butet Kertaredjasa, Thousands Of East Java Students Hold Mimbar Free To Reject Dynasty Politics

SURABAYA - Thousands of students from various campuses in East Java who are members of the Democracy Save Student Movement (Gemas'd), held a Free Mimbar on the Untag Campus Surabaya. The masses voiced the rejection of dynastic politics, which has recently been widely discussed.

One of the student representatives who is also the chairman of the East Java GMNI, Bagus Raditya, said that he was present in this free pulpit on the basis of independence. He wanted democracy in Indonesia to be maintained.

"Don't let this democracy be destroyed. Now we are talking about the constitution being broken down, which in turn students must step down to guard the constitution as academic fighter fighters," said Bagus, Wednesday, December 6.

According to him, whoever the elected president will later become a figure who will oversee the constitution. "So let's guard it together, because what is certain is that democracy is from the people, by the people, for the people," he said.

The activity was also attended by Butet Kertaredjasa, a well-known cultural observer from Yogyakarta. He considered that this free pulpit was a forum for students and the general public to understand the democratic conditions that are currently happening.

"I am sure that students who are present at this event are future owners who will save the constitution of the nation and state," he said.

Butet said, the accumulation of disappointment clearly illustrates to the public that Indonesia is currently not doing well. According to him, democracy has been injured by those who ride democracy.

"I don't need to repeat public facts. Politicians Indonesian people can read, they can know what really happened to the wounds of democracy," he concluded.

This student-free Mimbar invites various democratic orators and activists such as Butet Kartaredjasa, Eros Djarot, Alifurrahman S. Asyari, President of BEM UI, Seno Baskoro, East Java Student Alliance, and GMNI.
