Ganjar Optimistic Mahfud MD Can Handle Rohingya Refugees According To Jokowi's Directives

Presidential candidate (candidate) number 3 Ganjar Pranowo hopes that the government will immediately overcome Rohingya refugees who enter Indonesian territory through Sabang City, Aceh.

"I hope that the government can immediately resolve this issue (the Rohingya refugees)," said Ganjar at the Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate Building, Ing Martadipura, Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, Wednesday, December 6, confiscated by Antara.

He emphasized that he supports whatever the government's attitude regarding Rohingya refugees is. According to him, the decision to accept or reject is certain through a mature assessment process.

Ganjar is also optimistic that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) as well as his vice presidential candidate, Mahfud Md, will be able to handle Rohingya refugees according to the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Yes, an assessment (assessment) is being carried out, right. I think that's the most neutral way before we decide whether or not," he said.

Ganjar said the world's political situation today was changing so quickly. Starting from the Ukraine conflict, the economic competition between China and the United States, the Palestinian conflict, to Rohingya refugees that could change the world's constellation.

Indonesia's position, Ganjar continued, will not be easy to face today and next geopolitical challenges. Therefore, more critical, more analytical thinking is needed to read the changes that occur.

"We need to be more critical, we need to be more analytic because it is very important to read about changes in the external environment, especially the world that is currently going on so fast," added Ganjar.

In addition, he reminded the need for reflection of freedom in facing geopolitical challenges. Because, Indonesia adheres to an active free political understanding according to current conditions.

Thus, the freedom held is not only freedom to be impartial, but also freedom among individuals to seek partners who are both beneficial and respectful.

Furthermore, according to active Ganjar, it must also be redefinable that Indonesia is active in world peace, so it must actively put forward solutions to countries that are in conflict.

"Because the conflict has an impact on everything including the economy, the waves can reach Indonesia," he added.

"So creating security and peace in conflict areas is important, then organizations in the world that are important, especially the United Nations and ASEAN that can adjust to the current conditions," concluded Ganjar.
