Vice President Asks Universities To Make Syariah Advanced Business Models

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked universities to develop a more sophisticated business model for the development of national sharia economy and finance.

The request was conveyed by Vice President Ma'ruf while attending the Launch of Indonesia Sharia Economic Outlook (ISEO) 2024 and the Inauguration of the 3rd Indonesian University of Industry Government (I-GOV) 2023 at the University of Indonesia, Depok, West Java, Tuesday, December 5.

"I ask the University of Indonesia and all universities in the country to continue to provide education, research, and socialization of Islamic economics and finance, as well as create experts in the field of Islamic economics and finance needed by their own country and other nations in the world," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 5.

The Vice President said that the future of the Indonesian nation will be formed and transformed by the application of innovation and advanced technology in every line of life.

"There is no exception in the field of Islamic economics and finance, where technological disruption will greatly determine the success of optimizing the potential for business growth and halal investment in the future," said Ma'ruf.

The Vice President reminded that the change of government in 2024 is not the reason for efforts to accelerate Islamic economic and financial growth in the country. This must also be realized by all the nation's leaders in the future.

"Indonesia as a democratic country and the largest Muslim population in the world, has received recognition and become a reference for many countries as a model that has succeeded in realizing peaceful coexistence," he said.

Ma'ruf believes that it is only natural for Indonesia to be at the helm in the development of the global sharia economy, and become a model for the realization of Islam and progress.

For this reason, the Vice President emphasized that the opportunities for developing the Islamic economy and finance that are emerging today should not be deposited and missed. In this context, higher education institutions must be at the forefront of reading these opportunities.

I aspire, in the future the literature of referrals on the world's sharia economy and finance will come from Indonesia. Economic and Islamic financial experts who speak on global economic stage are also Indonesians," he said.

Ma'ruf said Indonesia should become a native in the field of halal diplomacy because of the success of Islamic economic and financial development in the country.

This great goal, continued the Vice President, certainly requires work continuity, so that all relevant parties are expected to continue to oversee the sustainability of Islamic economic and financial development programs from the central to regional levels.

"I ask to continue to be escorted by the sustainability of Islamic economic and financial programs as the main stream of short, medium and long-term national development, at the national and regional levels," he said.
