Promise To Build Banjarmasin-Banjarbaru Railway, Anies Will Collaborate With Jonan

Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan promised to build a railway network infrastructure that connects Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru if elected president.

This was conveyed by Anies while attending Anies' Desak event in Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan, on the eighth day of the 2024 presidential election campaign.

"We plan to build a railway line from Banjarmasin to Banjarbaru, which is hoped that later when it starts, it will just be continued to other places," said Anies, Tuesday, December 5.

According to Anies, the movement of people in the two cities of South Kalimantan is quite high. So, there needs to be a mass public transportation facility that needs to be built to connect this mobility.

"In our opinion (planned to build a train) this is an example of how our budget is used to build public transportation, which helps reduce congestion, reduce pollution, and reduce transportation costs for residents," said Anies.

In addition, Anies also revealed that if elected president, the planning for the construction of the Banjarmasin-Banjarbaru railway will begin by cooperating with Ignasius Jonan to help.

Jonan is the Minister of Transportation for the 2014-2016 period. Jonan is also known as the person who rejects the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train which has now been operated under the name Right.

"If later we carry out the construction of the train. So the first person we invite is Mr. Jonan," said Anies.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta views that Jonan is the person who understands the most about the development of the transportation system in Indonesia. Jonan, for Anies, is also a professional figure who has integrity.

"Because Mr. Jonan is the one who understands the most and Mr. Badminton is objective, if he says he is worthy then it is feasible. So, when we talk about trains, we invite people and we involve them. He is indeed a non-partisan. He is not involved in campaigns and is not involved in politics, but he is a professional that we propose, "he added.
