Gibran: Badminton Sports Needs Special Attention

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president Gibran Rakabuming Raka said badminton needs special attention from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) to improve achievement.

"Yes, later we need special emphasis, yes, special attention (for badminton), especially from the Menpora, so that our achievements continue to improve," said Gibran when met after playing badminton at the GBK Arena, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 4.

According to him, this is important for the future of national badminton in producing outstanding athletes.

"It can produce new seeds. Yes, young people that we must boost to later continue mature generations," said Gibran.

On the same occasion, former badminton player Hariyanto Arbi said Olympic medalists deserve an honorary allowance.

In other countries, said Gibran, the honorary allowance has been given to Olympic medalists.

"In other countries, the honorary allowance has been carried out long ago, we haven't," said Hariyanto.

Therefore, he hopes that the presidential candidate number 2 will be able to fulfill his hopes.

"Mas Gibran will help encourage it because it's a state award for athletes," said Hariyanto.

Previously, Gibran Rakabuming Raka ended his activities on the seventh day of the campaign with badminton sports with Taufik Hidayat at the GBK Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday.
