Ade Armando Alludes To The Yogyakarta Political Dynasty, Sultan HB X Affirms The Privileges Of DIY Protected By The Constitution

YOGYAKARTA - Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X emphasized the privileges of DIY, including in matters of filling the positions of governor and deputy governor are protected by the constitution.

"DIY's privilege has been recognized by law based on its origins and history," said Sultan HB X at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 4.

This was emphasized by the Sultan in response to comments by social media activists as well as Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) politician Ade Armando who said DIY was practicing dynastic politics because the governor and deputy governor were not elected by election, but through stipulation.

"Comments are okay. It's just my opinion, the transitional constitution is in Article 18 (UUD 1945), which concerns the issue of the Indonesian government. It respects the origin of the DIY tradition," said Sri Sultan.

In Article 18B paragraph 1 of the 1945 Constitution Chapter VI concerning Regional Government, it reads that the State recognizes and respects regional government units that are special or special in nature as regulated by law.

The state, according to Sri Sultan, has also protected the privileges of DIY through Law Number 13 of 2012 which states that the Governor of DIY must be held by the Sultan of the Yogyakarta Palace, and the Deputy Governor of DIY is the Adipati Pura Pakualam.

The position currently held by the Sultan is to carry out the mandate of the constitution.

Regarding the opinion of dynastic politics called Ade Armando, the Sultan invited the public's perception.

However, according to the King of the Yogyakarta Palace, this view should also see how long history of DIY has gained this title.

"Whether it is official or not, it is up to the public to see it from the side of the community. The most important thing for DIY is a special area, it is recognized as special from its origins, and the state respects that history. But the sentence is dynastic or not, there (the law) also does not exist. What is important is that we are part of the republic and carry out the existing laws decisions, that's all," said Ngarsa Dalem, Sultan HB X's nickname.
