KPU Decides The Moderator Figure Of The Presidential Candidate Debate After The Joint Meeting Of Team 3 Paslon For The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Member of the General Election Commission (KPU) Idham Holik said the KPU would decide the figure of the debate moderator after a coordination meeting with three campaign teams for the presidential-cawapres candidate pair (paslon).

According to him, coordination meetings are needed to listen to input and responses from campaign teams, including those regarding debate moderators.

"In the technical guidelines issued by the KPU, regarding moderators, the KPU must receive input and responses from the campaign team. That is the importance of the KPU holding a coordination meeting," said Idham at the KPU Office, Jakarta, Monday, December 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

However, Idham has not explained in detail when the coordination meeting and the announcement of the debate moderator will be held.

"If everything is ready, the KPU will definitely communicate this to the public," he said.

Idham also explained that the main criteria for moderators are those who have the ability to speak in public that are persuasive and attractive.

"What is clear is that the debate must be of high quality and attractive quality, that is the main criterion. And to make it attractive and quality, what are the main prerequisites? He has persuasive and attractive public speaking skills," he said.

Meanwhile, Idham said that the Indonesian KPU would hold a coordination meeting with the entire campaign team for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates to discuss the mechanism for the implementation of the debate.

"The KPU has planned that the KPU will hold a coordination meeting again with the entire campaign team regardless of the massive news related to this debate," said Idham.

Idham explained that the KPU would explain the entire mechanism for the implementation of the debate at the meeting. Meanwhile, he continued, the KPU invited the campaign team to provide input and responses.

"But later the decision will be taken by the KPU independently. If the decision has been made, it will be immediately communicated to the public," he said.

"Independently, it means that the KPU makes decisions legally on a framework, a legal framework," he continued.

However, Idham has not explained in detail the date of the implementation of the coordination meeting which invited campaign teams from three pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

"In the near future, try to make it possible as soon as possible," he said.

The KPU has set a special theme for each debate session. The first debate on December 12 will discuss law, human rights (HAM), government, eradication of corruption, and strengthening democracy.
