In The Aftermath Of 2 Serang Prison Prisoners Died Of Hand Sanitizer Opposants, Teams Guarded Examined

SERANG - The Correctional Division of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Banten, examined the team guarding the Class IIA Serang Penitentiary, this was in the aftermath of the death of two inmates after it was discovered that they drank coca kulos with hand sanitizer.

Head of the Correctional Division (Kadiv) of the Banten Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Jalu Yuswa Panjang, said that he examined two guard teams on duty on the day of the incident on Sunday (26/11).

"One guard team numbered nine people and supervised 900 Prisoners, at that time there were two teams of 18 people being investigated," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.

He also asked inmates who party alcohol to be put together in one room to make it easier to carry out surveillance. His party also asked the Head of Class IIA Serang to increase supervision of inmates who consume adulterated drinks.

"Of the eight inmates who have admitted to drinking oplosan, it is easy to supervise them to be used as a room with easy access, so that first aid can be quickly if there are complaints again," he said.

Previously, the Head of the Class II A Penitentiary (Lapas) Serang, Fajar Nur Cahyono, in Serang, Banten, on Friday, said that a total of 15 inmates were found drinking coca-cola mixed with alcohol hand sanitizer.

"In total, approximately 15 inmates drank, because some of them were found from two rooms 8 and 9," he said when met at the Class II A prison in Serang, Friday.

Fajar said that the alcohol content in the hand sanitizer was around 70 percent. And of the 15 inmates, seven of them complained of pain such as nausea and dizziness until they were rushed to the Banten Hospital, on Monday (27/11).

However, two inmates were declared dead after being treated by the hospital.

"Both of them are narcotics detainees with the initials BY and BP. BY was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months. Meanwhile, BP was sentenced to 7 years. Both of them are guilty based on Article 114 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009," he said.
