Throughout 2023, Palembang Religious Court Receives 2,960 Divorce Lawsuits

PALEMBANG - Palembang Religious Court revealed that divorce cases in the local city decreased throughout 2023. "Until the end of November 2023, we received 2,960 divorce applications. That number decreased compared to the previous year in 2022 we recorded 3,431 cases," said the Registrar of the Palembang Religious Court Yuli Suryadi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 29. He explained that the case that had been decided by the Palembang Religious Court from early January 2023 to late November 2023 for a divorce of 1,691 cases and for the case of the husband who filed 503 cases. He added that the factor in decreasing the divorce rate could not be known. "The decline in this divorce case, we do not know yes, there may be other factors that cause divorce cases to decrease," he explained. He added that the Palembang Religious Court always provides efforts to unite both parties who filed for divorce by mediation and advise if both parties are present at trial based on Supreme Court regulation number 1 12.

"The health we provide is in the form of the impact that will occur after divorce such as children, property and others. However, it is usually less likely to make peace even though it has been advised because husbands or wives have harbored feelings that are considered unable to unite for years," he explained. However, he added that there were also successful ones, even though divorce still occurs but custody, property can still be on good terms because it listens to the advice of the Religious Court.
