Mount Anak Krakatau 10 Times Eruption Until Tonight

LAMPUNG SELATAN - Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) recorded an eruption 10 times from the crater of Mount Anak Krakatau in South Lampung Regency, Lampung.

The eruption conditions vary with heights ranging from 200 to 2,000 meters, starting from 08.17 to 20.38 WIB, Monday (27/11).

Head of the Mount Anak Krakatau Monitoring Post in Hargopancuran, Rajabasa District, South Lampung, Andi Suardi, said the eruption occurred on Monday (27/11) morning until tonight.

PVMBG, reported by ANTARA, noted that the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau occurred on Monday, November 27 at 08.17 WIB with a column height of ash observed at approximately 200 mm above the peak, and from sea level approximately 357 m the ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity leaning towards the northwest.

Then there was another eruption at 09.23 WIB, at 09.31 WIB, and 09.32 WIB. With the height of the ash pond varying from 200 meters 1,000, to 1,500 meters.

Furthermore, the eruption returned at 11.43 WIB, with a height of 2,000 meters of volcanic ash above the top of the Mount Anak Krakatau.

Eruption again at 14:46 WIB, a height of 300 meters of ash, then 14.48 WIB, an eruption of 500 meters of ash, and 14.53 WIB of ash ejection height of 350 meters.

Mount Anak Krakatau at 15.25 WIB experienced another eruption, but the height of the ash column was not observed, approximately 800 m high.

The eruption then occurred at 20.38 WIB with a column of ash observed about 300 meters above the peak or about 457 meters above sea level, the eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 65 millimeters and a duration of approximately 1 minute 20 seconds.

The ash column was observed to be gray to black with thick intensity to the northwest.

The closest settlement of Mount Anak Krakatau is on Sebesi Island, which is 16.5 kilometers away.

Andi appealed to the public and fishermen not to approach the Mount Anak Krakatau area at a radius of five kilometers.

"Currently Mount Anak Krakatau is at level III, on standby, with the recommendations of the community, fishermen, mountain climbers, not approaching the mountain with a radius of five kilometers," he said.
