JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron revealed that the collegial collective system among leaders had not worked. In the future, improvement efforts will be made because there has been discussions at the meeting. This was conveyed by Ghufron in a press conference after a leadership meeting today, Monday, November 27. He said, there were a number of problems in the implementation of collegial collectives. Complementing Ghufron's statement, the Chairperson of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango, revealed a working model at his institution. “ Previously there were in charge, so there were certain deputy chairmen in charge of taking action, in charge of prevention. We will evaluate this,” he said. “So there are no more models like this. All Deputy Chairs of the KPK, leaders are responsible for that field, ” continued Nawawi. As previously reported, Nawawi had just been appointed as the Temporary Chair of the KPK by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, November 27. He then gathered the leaders to discuss the condition of the institution after Firli Bahuri was temporarily dismissed because he was a suspect. Firli is now a suspect in the alleged extortion or receipt of bribes from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The decision was made by the Polda Metro Jaya after the case was carried out.

Several pieces of evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect were foreign exchange documents worth Rp7.4 billion. Then, there were also the results of the extraction of 21 cellphones. In the case of alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities, Firli was charged with Article 12e, 12B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code. Firli faces life imprisonment.
