Chili Traders At Perumnas Klender Market: Can Change Prices 3 Times A Day

JAKARTA The soaring price of chili has made many traders complain. At Perumnas Klender Market, East Jakarta, the price of red chili pepper continues to increase to reach Rp120,000 per kilogram.

It was found that there was a difference in the selling price of red chilies which varied. The difference in selling prices was due to the unstable price of chilies in the past month.

This condition has an impact on the stock availability of commodities. Traders are unable to provide chili stock because they are worried that buyers will decline.

"The price of chili can go up 3 times in one day. One day it can be different," said Nani, a chili commodity trader at Perumnas Klender Market, Monday, November 27.

Despite the price increase, chili buyers still seem enthusiastic about coming to the shops of the traders. However, they reduced the number of purchases due to the high price of chili.

"If there is an increase, there is a reduction in purchasing power. I sell (caye commodity), because the price is also different," said Marlina, another chili commodity trader.

Traders hope that the central government can immediately take action in maintaining the stability of staple foods for horticultural commodities.
