JAKARTA - Governor of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Zainal Arifin Paliwang visited the Red and White KPK Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

His arrival with his staff was intended to hold an audience with the KPK after starting his term of office. During the hearing, Zainal was met with KPK chairman Firli Bahuri and two of his deputies, Nawawi Pomalango and Lili Pintauli Siregar.

"The KPK leadership reminded the Governor of Kaltara to fulfill his campaign promise to realize a good Kaltara government, covering at least four things related to the development of good government apparatus, quality of public services, increasing public welfare, and commitment to anti-corruption embodied in development programs in Kaltara. During the hearing, the KPK also reminded Zainal, who was just inaugurated on Monday, February 15, to realize good governance. You do this by sticking to integrity, orderly administration, and preventing potential irregularities that can lead to criminal acts of corruption.

This message was conveyed by the KPK because regional heads had to face tough challenges during the pandemic period. One of them is by ensuring that the handling of COVID-19 and economic recovery in the regions runs in a transparent and accountable manner.

Responding to the KPK, Zainal then hopes that the KPK can provide assistance to oversee the development program that will be carried out in North Kalimantan.

Ipi conveyed that Governor Zainal has the desire to develop natural potential, especially marine resources. According to him, this is quite promising for the welfare of the people of Kaltara, but it has not been managed properly.

"The KPK welcomes the plan. Hopefully, Kaltara's natural resources will contribute to increasing Kaltara's local revenue (PAD). Based on the KPK's records, the area of intervention for optimizing PAD in MCP 2020 is the lowest and still needs to be increased by a score of 49 percent. In general, the total score of the 2020 MCP for Kaltara Province is quite good, namely 84 percent. This value is above the national average of 64 percent, "he concluded.
