Observers Say There Will Be No Upheaval in PDIP After Hasto Becomes KPK Suspect

Political communication observer at Esa Unggul University, Jamiluddin Ritonga, assessed that there would be no significant shock within the PDIP after the Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto was named a suspect by the KPK.

According to him, the factions in PDIP will not dare to interfere as long as Megawati Soekarnoputri is still the general chairman. Because, so far Megawati has been highly respected by the factions within the PDIP.

"That is why every PDIP Congress always appears Megawati's name as the sole candidate for chairman. Because until now only Megawati is considered to be able to bridge and accommodate the interests of various factions in the PDIP," said Jamiluddin, Thursday, December 26.

Therefore, he continued, Puan Maharani's faction and Prananda Prabowo's faction would not make significant shocks by weakening Hasto's faction after he became a suspect. The Puan faction and the Prananda faction, said Jamiluddin, are only fighting over the position of the secretary general to replace Hasto's position.

"The chances of a great shock actually occur if Megawati does not exist. Each faction has the opportunity to control PDIP will be very large. Therefore, to avoid severe shocks, at the 2025 congress, Mega should hand over the position of chairman to Puan or Prananda or people she deems worthy of," said Jamiluddin.

"That way, the leadership relay at PDIP will run smoothly. Every faction will not dare to reject Megawati's choice to become chairman," he continued.

If this is done by Megawati, according to Jamiluddin, PDIP's existence will be maintained. It is believed that external parties will not be able to shake PDIP.

"Even if there is, it's just like a wind. This certainly can't shake PDIP," he concluded.
