JAKARTA - Britain will provide additional humanitarian assistance of 30 million pounds (Rp587,324,355,600) for Gaza, Foreign Minister David Cameron said on Friday, as he travels to the West Bank, Palestine, to meet the country's leaders and aid agencies.

The announcement of this additional funding comes as the latest humanitarian aid from Britain landed in Al Arish, Egypt, before being transferred to Gaza.

RAF flights brought 23 tonnes of aid, including 4,500 blankets and 4,500 beddings for distribution by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).

"We hope that today there will be a hostage release, and I urge all parties to continue to strive for the release of each hostage. The pause will also allow access to life-saving aid for the Gaza community," Foreign Minister Cameron said in a statement.

"I am proud that Britain's fourth flight with important supplies landed in Egypt today. And I can announce new funding of 30 million to be used for essential aid such as shelters and medical supplies," the former British PM continued.

Citing The National News, before heading to the West Bank, Foreign Minister Cameron arrived in Israel on Thursday, immediately held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog.

It is known, the promise of the latest aid will double the amount of additional aid Britain has provided to Gaza since the conflict began in October.
