KPK Searches BNPB Office And Suspect's House Alleged Corruption In PPE Procurement

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched a number of locations in Jabodetabek and Surabaya to look for evidence of alleged corruption in the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE). One of the things that was searched was the Office of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

"The investigative team some time ago carried out forced efforts in the form of searches in the Jabodetabek and Surabaya areas. These locations include the BNPB office, the Ministry of Health's Health Crisis Headquarters," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, November 21.

In addition, investigators also searched the suspect's house in this case. However, Ali has not yet specified who is entangled.

"From the activity process, evidence was found and secured, including procurement documents, financial transaction records, and cash flow to various related parties," he said.

"Including the purchase of assets of economic value from the party designated as a suspect," Ali continued.

In the future, investigators will conduct analysis and confiscation. "Then (this finding, ed) was confirmed to the parties who were summoned as witnesses, including the suspect," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK named a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) for the period 2020-2022 or during the COVID-19 pandemic. The number is more than one person.

However, regarding the identity and exact number of suspects in this case, Ali has not opened it. From the results of the temporary investigation, the value of state losses caused reached hundreds of billions of rupiah.

Meanwhile, the loss came from the project value of Rp3.03 trillion for the procurement of 5 million PPE packages. In this case, five people have been prevented from leaving the country.

The anti-corruption commission did not specify them, but they are Budi Badminton as the state civil apparatus (ASN) at the Ministry of Health, Hermansyah who is an ASN from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB, Satrio Wibowo and Ahmad Taufik as private sector, and A. Isdar Yusuf as advocates.
