Visited By The Secretary Of The Chinese Communist Party, Vice President Appreciates Investment Interests In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin supports the expansion of the field of cooperation between Indonesia and the People's Republic of China (RRT), including with Zhejiang Province, RRT.

This was conveyed by the Vice President when receiving a visit from the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of China Zhejiang Province as well as the Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Committee Zhejiang Yi Lianhong at the Indonesian Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, November 13.

"There are three that I want to appoint to strengthen the collaboration between Indonesia and China. First, strengthening investment cooperation. I appreciate the great interest in investment from Zhejiang as one of the main sources of investors from China to Indonesia," said the Vice President.

Of the total Chinese investment of US$8.2 billion in 2022 in Indonesia, said the Vice President, 21.9 percent of them are investments in companies from Zhejiang Province in the nickel metal production sector in Indonesia with a value of 1.81 billion US dollars.

Through the ongoing investment program, the Vice President also hopes for an expansion of the field of cooperation from China to Indonesia.

"In addition to investing in mineral mining and downstreaming, I hope there will continue to be an expansion to Indonesia's important sectors, such as infrastructure, connectivity, energy transition, and a green economy," explained the Vice President.

In addition, the Vice President also emphasized the increase in cooperation in the trade sector and the halal industry, such as the consumption of halal food and cosmetic products.

The vice president invited business actors in Zhejiang Province to take advantage of the huge market potential in Indonesia, especially halal food and drinks, halal pharmaceuticals, and halal cosmetics, as well as halal product certification.

On the same occasion, the Vice President saw the need to strengthen closer community relations to support the cooperation that has been established between Indonesia and China so far.

At the end of the meeting, the Vice President specifically expressed hope that educational cooperation, either through scholarships or vocational education, could continue to be encouraged in order to strengthen investment in RRT and Indonesia.

"I hope that the Zhejiang Provincial Government can continue to encourage cooperation in education with more scholarships for Indonesian students to Zhejiang and vocational education cooperation as supporters of Chinese investment in Indonesia. I also invite more tourists from Zhejiang to visit Indonesia," he said.

In line with the Vice President, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of China's Zhejiang Province as well as the Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, the Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Yi Lianhong, stated that the Zhejiang Government is fully committed to expanding the field of cooperation with the Indonesian government as an effort to increase the results of cooperation between the two countries.

"We are willing to improve and strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Zhejiang, especially in various fields, including economy, trade, culture, technology science, education, health, and youth exchange with the aim of expanding the field of cooperation and increasing the outcome of cooperation," explained Yi Lianhong.

Present on the occasion were the RRT Ambassador to Indonesia Lu Kang, the Director General of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission Zhejiang Du Xuliang, the Director General of the Trade Department of the Regional Government of Zhejiang Han Jie, and the Director General of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Regional Government of Zhejiang Chen Guangsheng.

Also present were the Director General of the State Department of the Regional Government of Zhejiang Gu Jianxin and the Director of the General Office of the Chinese Communist Party, the Zhejiang Province Committee, Wang Bin.

Meanwhile, the Vice President was accompanied by Deputy for Economic Development Policy Support and Increasing Guntur's Competitiveness Iman Nefianto, Deputy for Administration Sapto Harjono Wahjoe Sedjati, Special Staff of the Vice President for Poverty Reduction and Regional Autonomy M.
