Police Investigators In Cases Of Child Abuse With Disabilities Ask For Rewards, Family Reports Propam

The legal advisory team for child victims of abuse with the initials GF (4) reported members of the National Police initials T to the professional and security division (propam) and supervisory investigation (wassidik) for alleged violations of the code of ethics to the GF mother with the initials FM (26) during the case investigation.

"We have reported it to Propam and Wassidik. Regarding his actions, in the investigation process, we reported it to Wasidik. Regarding institutional ethics, we report it to Propam," said legal advisor to victim Mahar Tri Ramadani, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 13.

He explained that the case occurred when the child who was a victim of GF with special needs was in the form of being late in speech and being hyperactive, allegedly being abused by a therapist at a SLB therapy foundation on Jalan Tallasalapang, Makassar.

FM has put her child in the SLB ABK therapy foundation since 2022. However, on April 13, 2023, the victim's child had an abnormality and vomited. When he was taken to the hospital, the results of the examination found a number of bruises on his body.

FM reported the alleged abuse to the Makassar Polrestabes office with registration of STBL/783/IV/2023/POLDA SOUTH SULAWESI/RESTABES MKSR report, on Saturday 15 April 2023 and the case was handled by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA).

During the seven-month investigation process, investigators in this case with the initials T allegedly often asked the victim's mother for something under the pretext of accelerating the investigation process and promising to provide information on the progress of the case.

"So the problem is ethics. He always invites both of them and sometimes even asks for something," he said.

He gave an example, asked to pay for a barber, asked for gasoline money until he bought pizza. The proof is, there are several conversations on WhatsApp social media that are stored as evidence.

Confirmed separately, the Head of the PPA Unit of the Makassar Polrestabes Inspector Satu (Iptu) Syahuddin Rahman to reporters confirmed that he had received a report last April, then carried out a series of investigations to raise his status to investigation.

Rahman also said that the case title had been carried out first and specifically included examining dozens of therapists, expert witnesses, presenting reporters, supervisors of investigations, there were Paminal, Propam, Head of Legal Bureau, and Siwas.

Regarding the alleged ethical violation by investigators who asked for compensation from the victim's mother, Syahuddin dismissed her. He stated that the Makassar Police Satreskrim PPA Unit had carried out its duties professionally and transparently.

"We have never made such requests. While receiving this report, we are professional, transparent, and always convey the entire series of investigations or SP2HP to the complainant," he said.
