Expelled From DCT, PSI Denpasar Candidate Complains To Bawaslu

DENPASAR - Denpasar City Election Supervisory Agency, Bali, received a request for clarification from Gede Eka Wijaya Patriana, a cadre of the Denpasar City Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) because his name disappeared or was crossed out in the list of permanent candidates (DCT) participating in the 2024 General Election.

Daily Executive (Plh) Chairman of Denpasar City Bawaslu Dewa Ayu Agung Manik Oktariani said the application file for clarification submitted by Gede Eka would be studied first by Denpasar Bawaslu.

"We have to study it first so that it can be followed up. What we will convey later regarding this clarification must of course be in accordance with applicable regulations," said Dewa Ayu as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 8.

When he received the clarification application file accompanied by other Denpasar City Bawaslu commissioners, he explained that Bawaslu had the authority to supervise the stages carried out by the KPU ranks and political parties participating in the election.

On November 3, 2023, the stages of the 2024 General Election have reached the determination of a list of permanent candidates (DCT) from prospective candidates for DPR members, provincial / district / city DPRDs as well as candidates for DPD members. DCT has then been announced by the KPU at various levels on November 4.

Three days after the determination of DCT, he continued, political parties can also apply for disputes. "It can be submitted to each district/city Bawaslu," said the Coordinator of the Prevention Division, Community Participation and Public Relations of the Denpasar City Bawaslu.

Dewa Ayu said Bawaslu also handled administrative violations, violations of the code of ethics, alleged criminal violations and other violations.

Meanwhile, PSI Denpasar City cadre Gede Eka Wijaya Patriana, who was supposed to fight in the West Denpasar 2 electoral district in the 2024 election, admitted that his goal was to raise this issue to ask for clarification from election organizers. Not only to the Denpasar City Bawaslu, he also asked for clarification from the Denpasar KPU.

"Because previously there was no room for clarification, I took this step. This is a form of love for the party and I don't want things like this to happen again," said Gede Eka.

The former chairman of the Denpasar City PSI DPD wants to ask for clarification from the election organizers for the deletion, whether it is in accordance with KPU regulations or not. "But it must be ready with the final decision because there is no purpose for office, but because it is very much in love with PSI," he said.

He said that in May 2023 during the registration period for legislative candidates, he was also removed from his position as Chairman of the Denpasar City PSI DPD along with other administrators.

"At that point I have no problem because from the start I was not part of a party to find a position. I am still with my friends to raise the party, as a form of love for the party. My goal from the start is how to make PSI Denpasar a faction in the DPRD," he said.

Then on October 3, 2023, he received a letter from the new Denpasar City PSI DPD chairman, whose contents dropped his name as a candidate in the list of candidates (DCS).

"However, it is a bit confusing, because the letter received from the Denpasar PSI DPD uses the basis for the DPP reply letter signed by Giring (General Chairperson of the PSI DPP). We know that Kaesang has been declared Chairman of PSI on September 25, 2023," he said.

Before October 3, 2023, PSI wrote to PDIP to meet Megawati and in the news it was clear that Kaesang signed the request for a meeting. This means that before that date (October 3) there was already Kaesang's legitimacy as PSI General Chair.

"At that time I received the letter but I was still 'wait and see' (waiting and seeing). In fact, on November 4 it turned out that my name disappeared from DCT and was replaced with someone else," said Gede Eka.
