Affirming That They Are on the Side of Justice in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, China Asks Countries Outside the Middle East Not to Take Sides

JAKARTA - Beijing has always sided with peace and justice in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a press conference.

"Regarding the issue of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, China has always sided with peace and justice. We maintain close communication with the relevant parties," he explained to TASS, as quoted on November 8.

This was conveyed by Wang Wenbin, responding to the European Union's call for China to influence Hamas and Iran, in order to avoid escalation in the Middle East.

"We are working hard to stop gunfire and explosions. We call for the restoration of peace," Wang stressed.

He emphasized that countries outside the Middle East region, especially large countries, must be objective and impartial, "together playing a constructive role to reduce tensions."

Regarding Middle East issues, China supports the creation of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

On Monday, European Commission Chair Ursula von der Leyen told the annual conference of EU ambassadors that the Bamboo Curtain country should use its influence against Hamas and Iran to avoid escalation in the Middle East.

It is known that Chinese President Xi Jinping, in his comments regarding the crisis in Gaza last month, said that a two-state solution to create an independent Palestine was a "fundamental way out" of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

"The top priority now is a ceasefire as soon as possible, to avoid the conflict spreading or even getting out of control and causing a serious humanitarian crisis," said President Xi, citing CNN from CCTV.

Meanwhile, China's Special Envoy for the Middle East, Zhai Jun, said that the crisis currently occurring in the Middle East, specifically in Gaza, is because the rights of the Palestinian people are not guaranteed.

"The fundamental reason for the current Palestinian-Israeli conflict situation is that the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people have not been guaranteed," said Zhai.
