Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Achmad Baidowi, said that the polemic of the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the age limit for presidential/vice presidential candidates made one of the points to encourage the DPR to consider the revision of the Constitutional Court Law.

"The current case is at least a momentum when Commission III of the DPR RI discusses the revision of the Constitutional Court Law," Baidowi said in an online discussion with the theme "Consequences of the Constitutional Court Decision" in Jakarta, Saturday.

The House of Representatives is currently discussing the fourth amendment to Law Number 24 of 2003 concerning the Constitutional Court.

According to him, the revision of the Constitutional Court Law will strengthen the function of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK).

"Strengthening the MKMK by not ignoring the nature of the final and binding Constitutional Court's decision," said Baidowi.

Through the revision of the law, according to Baidowi, it will also strengthen the selection of Constitutional Court judges.

"Be sure that in carrying out the process, we always make strict selections to produce good selected people," said Baidowi.

The Constitutional Court's decision has drawn polemics in the community as conveyed by Achmad Baidowi regarding the Constitutional Court Decision Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 which stipulates the age limit for presidential/vice presidential candidates is no lower than 40 years or has been / is currently in office chosen through general elections including regional head elections.

Nine constitutional judges involved in the decision were then reported by various elements of society to the MKMK.

Currently, the Constitutional Court has received 21 reports regarding alleged violations of the code of ethics by nine judges of the Constitutional Court.

The verdict on the alleged violation of the code of ethics on the Constitutional Court's decision No. 90 will be submitted by the Chief Justice of the MKMK Jimly Asshiddiqie on November 7, 2023.
