The Ministry Of Defense Ensures That There Is No Sensitive Data Leaked From The Ministry Of Defense's Laman

The Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) has confirmed that there are no sensitive data or confidential documents leaked from the hack of the Ministry of Defense's official website.

Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General TNI Edwin Adrian Sumantha said that the Ministry of Defense's official website only contains data that are ordinary and open to the public.

"WebsiteKemhanis digunakan untuk pendaftaran komcad (komponen cadangan), siaran pers, PPID, dokumen-dokumen (softcopy) Kamis Wira, Jakuhamneg (Kebijakan Umum Pertahanan Negara)," kata Edwin dilansir ANTARA, Kamis, 2 November.

He said there were no confidential documents or sensitive data stored on the Ministry of Defense's official website, because the data had its own system.

He continued that the Ministry of Defense's internal cooperation with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) is still in the process of checking the system as a whole (overall checking). The thorough examination is likely completed in 1.2 days.

Hackers "Two" claimed to hack the Ministry of Defense's official website, "kemhan.go.id" and managed to access the dashboard section. On the BreachForums page, which is a forum for buying and selling the hack, Two2 shared several screenshots of the Ministry of Defense's official dashboard. The hacker said there was data of 1.64 Terabyte (TB) from a capacity of 2 TB on the page. Information about the hack circulated on social media on Wednesday (1/11).

Chairman of the Cyber Security Research Institute (CISSRec) Pratama Persadha in his analysis assessed that hacking of the Ministry of Defense's official website was a "Stayar" malware attack. From this action, hackers generally collect datalogin, namely username and password.

He praised the rapid response of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense which immediately investigated the hacking.

"The Ministry of Defense's Pusdatin (Data Center and Information) team moved quite quickly, because this morning (2/11), the Ministry of Defense website is no longer accessible, which is likely to be investigated and maintained by the system. One of which needs to be done by the Ministry of Defense is to force the user ( page manager) to change the passwords of existing accounts, both accounts on thekemhan.go.id website as well as personal accounts such as email, and social media to prevent passwords that have been leaked is used to access systems owned by the Ministry of Defense," said Pratama.
