Medan DPRD Prioritizes The Health Budget Of The Poor Through UHC JKMB

MEDAN - Chairman of the Medan City DPRD, Hasyim, admitted that he still prioritizes the free health service budget for the poor through the UHC (Universal Health Coverage / Universal Health Coverage) program for the Medan Berkah Health Insurance (JKMB).

"For the poor, they can use BPJS Kesehatan, namely the UHC JKMB program. If the economic residents are good, they can only enter the BPJS Kesehatan Mandiri participation," said Hasyim in Medan, North Sumatra, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

This legislator emphasized that the poor in the capital city of North Sumatra Province do not need to worry, because the medical expenses are borne in the 2024 Medan City Budget.

The UHC JKMB program simply shows the e-KTP/family card to get free health services to hospitals that have collaborated with BPJS Kesehatan.

Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution has launched free health services through the UHC JKMB program at H Bachtiar Djafar Hospital on December 5, 2022.

"If all residents use the JKMB UHC, the burden carried by the Medan City APBD is very burdensome. So we apply the cross subsidy, the rich help the poor," he explained.

This politician also mentioned that this year the Medan City Government has allocated a budget in the Medan City Budget for the JKMB UHC program of around Rp. 200 billion.

"Of course, the budget will be sufficient, and even reduced if the rich do not participate in using this free medical program," said Hasyim.

Deputy Mayor of Medan Aulia Rachman admitted that the Medan City Government continues to improve the quality of the UHC JKMB program for residents in the capital city of North Sumatra Province.

"This improvement is to follow up on public complaints about the program," said Aulia.

According to him, the improvement in the performance of health services, both Puskesmas and two referral hospitals, namely Dr. Pirngadi Hospital and H Bachtiar Jafar Hospital, continues.

In addition, through the realization of health service behavior, it is service, and improving the quality of human resources (HR), especially medical personnel.
