Husein Sastranegara Airport Still Serves Flights To Yogyakarta-Surabaya

BANDUNG - Executive General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura II Husein Sastranegara Airport R Indra Crisna Seputra explained that the flight facilities in Bandung City are still serving flights for destinations to Yogyakarta and Surabaya.

"After the transfer of jet-engine aircraft flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport to West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati on October 29, 2023 yesterday, there were still flying services from Bandung to Yogyakarta and Surabaya," said Indra at Husein Sastranegara Airport. Bandung, West Java reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

Indra explained the reason why there are still flights with the two cities' propellers (ATR) because it has an encouraging history where in 2019 there could be up to eight flights in a day.

"So 2019 (is) good, all ATR starts from Surabaya, Yogyakarta continues to Semarang, continues Halim, there are many routes. And now that's why they want to be taken by Wings are Yogyakarta and Surabaya and this is routinely there every day," said Indra.

Before the jet flight from Husein Sastranegara Airport was diverted to BIJB Kertajati, Indra said that his party noted that at least seven flights were carried out at Husein Airport.

"Previously on the last 28 (October) there were seven departures and arrivals from eight flight routes, and on the 29th all flew from Kertajati. Meanwhile, on October 29, there were 31 passengers (ATR) because in October, November, it was a 'low season' for flights," he said.

Indra believes that more passengers from Husein Sastranegara Airport will enter the "high season" at Husein Sastranegara Airport which is expected to occur in mid-December.

"Later in mid-December, the 'high season' will start to rise. For example, last year in December, passengers in Husein per day could reach 3,000, and now until 28 (October) per day there are 2,300 people," he said.

Indra explained that apart from serving the propeller plane flights, Husein Sastranegara Airport is also still serving several other flights such as private jets and cargo planes.

"In the regulation, it states that only the type of propeller operates and we also still serve the private jet. We can still land here and then Cargo. So if there is a Cargo charter, we can still accept it, and the last one is VIP and VVIP. Of course, we will continue to serve some of the flights earlier, and for the route, of course, the airline will continue to discuss with us," he said.

Regarding the addition of routes, Indra said that the ATR population is still small, and the potential that can still develop so far is only with WingsAir airlines.

"So this great potential is in WingsAir, and WingsAir is exploring the new routes besides Yogya and Surabaya earlier, maybe there is Semarang or other areas," he said.

Although jet-engined aircraft flights have been transferred to BIJB Kertajati, Indra said Husein Sastranegara Airport continues to provide services according to standards and continues to prepare flight facilities there with support from Husein Sastranegara Air Base.

"So far, we have not reduced the 'level of service', so we remain standard, namely 3 S 1 C, safety, security and services that must be complete with us. Now, again, we just have to wait from our airline friends to submit a slot to us and of course we support, following the government's regulations that all of them must be proper," he said.
