The West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) continues to investigate cases of alleged corruption in the procurement of practical tools for vocational students for the 2021 fiscal year at the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office (Disdik).

Assistant for Special Crimes at the West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, Haliman, said that in the investigation, his party cooperated with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).

"In investigating this case, we are collaborating with PPATK for further investigation regarding the flow of funds," he said in Padang, Friday, October 27, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the mode found in the alleged corruption case was the inflating of funds for the project to procure practical tools for vocational students.

"Because of the alleged inflated funds, of course there is money flowing to certain parties. That's what we are trying to trace so that we cooperate with PPATK," he said.

Haliman said the search would strengthen the West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office investigators to ensnare parties suspected of enjoying the flow of funds.

"We have confirmed that anyone involved and enjoys the flow of funds will be named a suspect in accordance with the evidence we have," he said.

In line with this, the West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office auditor team is also finalizing the calculation of state financial losses in the case.

"The audit has almost been completed, when the results of the audit come out, the investigation team immediately determines the suspect," he said.

Haliman explained that the case was related to the procurement of practical equipment for vocational students at the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office for the 2021 fiscal year with a total budget of Rp. 18 billion.

In the project, there were four activities, including the procurement of main practice equipment for students in the maritime sector (nautical fishing vessels and agribusiness for freshwater fisheries), and the project for procuring main practice equipment for students of food and horticultural vocational schools, agricultural and poultry production management.

Furthermore, the project to procure equipment for the main practice of automotive sector vocational school students (motomotive light vehicles technique, welding techniques, and electrical power installation techniques), and the project to procure main practice goods for students of SMK in the tourism sector (hotels, beauty, skin and hair, boga management and fashion).

Haliman said that during the investigation of the case, the West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office investigator team had examined 33 witnesses from various backgrounds, namely the power of budget users, technical implementing officials of activities, treasurers, school principals, ULP, distributors, and project partners.

The investigation of the case began when the prosecutor's office received a report from the public about the alleged price inflation in a project at the West Sumatra Education Office, then followed up by conducting an investigation until finally the status of the case was raised to the investigation stage.
