Makassar Class I Correctional Institution (Lapas) officers, South Sulawesi, thwarted an attempt to smuggle clear crystals of suspected methamphetamine into the detention cell of inmates by visitors.

Makassar Kalapas Teguh Pamuji said all prison officers on duty had understood the modes that tried to smuggle prohibited items into prisons until the officers finally uncovered them.

"We checked the entire motorbike and we got a package of small black plastic bags that were taped. Inside, four plastic clips were found containing white crystalline powder suspected of being methamphetamine," he explained.
