The Rescue Team of the Baubau SAR Post, Kendari Basarnas conducted a search for a man who fell after a ship accident around the waters of Tanjung Pemali, Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

Head of Basarnas Kendari Muhammad Arafah said the incident was first informed by one of the ship's agents, on Saturday (21/10) at around 03.00 WITA.

"It was reported that there had been a ship accident, namely KM Sumber Rejeki 03 colliding with MV Sami around the waters of Tanjung Pemali," said Arafah, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, October 21.

Based on the report, continued Arafah, his party dispatched the Baubau SAR Post Rescue Team to the reported location using rubber boats to provide SAR assistance.

"The location distance with Murhum Baubau Port is about 28 nautical miles," he said.

The head of the Kendari Basarnas said that based on the information obtained, a crew member of KM Sumber Rejeki 03 named Doni (35) allegedly fell in the sea and disappeared due to the ship's collision.

"Doni, a resident of Binongko, Wakatobi Regency," he explained.

During the search operation, the Baubau SAR Post Rescue Team used several equipment, namely rubber boats, rescue boats, and several other safety support equipment.

The incident began when KM Sumber Rejeki 03 carrying six people on the Binongko route to Baubau collided with the MV Sami ship which contained 25 people on the Banjarmasin route to North Maluku in Tanjung Pemali Waters, Buton Regency.

"As a result of the collision, one of the children from KM Sumber Rejeki 03 was not on the ship," he said.

Arafah conveyed that the other crew members had searched for the victim, but had not been found.

"At the time of checking and it is suspected that the victim fell in the sea, considering the condition of the ship was badly damaged," said Arafah.
